Should advertising be banned?

The whole point of advertising is to brainwash people and make them buy stuff they dont need, otherwise advertising would not be necessary. There are no rational decision making thought processes involved in advertising, we know that since the days of Freud.

  1. Like yourself I would rather not see advertising on TV,however we are stuck with it as the advertising pays for the programs we watch. The most popular TV show the higher the cost of advertising.I usually take advantage of the adverts,I get up of the lounge & utilize that time.

  2. It's really up to you not to be brainwashed.  If a person is so weak they get suckered...well...

  3.                  it is the right of a company to get there ideas out there, advertisement is not bad if not for advertisement the t.v company would not be able to profit from airing shows. advertisement supplies jobs and helps our economy. as you buy a billboard or some airtime on a t.v you can put up almost anything you want. to stop advertisement would be hurting  the company's  freedom of speech for there product. if it was you or me in a position at a company thats salary depended on how much products the company sold, you or anyone else would want to help sell as much products as you could for the company and advertisements help bring profit to the company and the workers. taking away advertisement would be taking away profits from company's that work hard to make things the average consumer will want to use or need. so stopping advertisement would hurt company's and overall the economy. no one can make you do or buy something it is the job of the consumer to buy only what they want and need. you should not blame advertisements because you cannot control your buying. i think that anyone who blames advertisement for them buying something is saying they have given up the right to think for them selfs  and should not be taken seriously.
