This would require changing the law that requires potential presidents be born in the U.S. If this law is changed, it will need to incorporate all legal US citizens who were born abroad, adopted or not.  Being adopted should afford citizens the very same rights as every one else -- no more, but certainly no fewer (as it currently does in most states.)

If you want your a-child to have the opportunity to be president why don't you do the right thing and move to his mothers country instead of forcing him to live in yours.  The  issue will be resolved. Prove to him how much you really love and respect him.

No, because not ALL would be suited to become president!  There are regulations to become the president, if you are talking about the USA...your question is vague and a little confusing.

If they meet the requirements, I don't see why not.  However, anyone running for president must be born in the United States, so that rules out any internationally adopted persons.

I personally wouldn't want my child to grow up to be President only because of all the pressure and such put on them, plus most politicians are corrupt...and not really in it for the good of the people by the time they are running for president.  That is just me though.

In response to Meerkat, that is a pretty serious question when you realize this is yet another strike against an adopted person who was not born, but brought to the US. It makes me wonder what rights they lose in their home country as well. Nothing like being adopted to understand the true meaning of limbo.

Its your country but personally, I think that any citizen should be allowed to become President.  If someone cares enough about your country to come there and become a citizen...THEN is good enough to get elected he/she should be able to be President.  Seems a shame to automatically eliminate so much good potential, considering the slim pickins you have now.

I do find it funny though that your Bill of Rights and your laws state that everyone is to be treated equally.  In fact, doesn't it state somewhere in one of your documents that "all men are created equal"?  I guess those born in the US are more equal then others.

I think all citizens who were adopted as children (i.e. not adults who claim adopted status for that sole reason, but those who have spent most of their lives in the country due to adoption) should be allowed to become president. Being born within US borders isn't some magical qualification that internationally adopted children lack.

I actually think anyone who is naturalized or immigrates to the US as a child should also be allowed, regardless of adoption status. The "natural born" requirement has never made much sense to me. I think they should all have an equal shot to try for the office, and then let the voters decide.

It's a requirement that you be born in the USA to be President. Yes, it kinda sucks for the kids who were adopted when they were really young and raised here, but it also stops Schwartzenager from becoming President!
