  1. longest...shorter...shortest

  2. My track coaches always described it as a hop, a skip, and a jump, so as far as length goes the 3rd should be longest, then 1st, then 2nd. Also, it goes left foot, left foot, right foot or right foot, right foot, left foot.

  3. The most common mistake is making the first phase too long which causes the second phase to be too short.

If you use up most of your energy, or spring in the first phase then the second phase must be much shorter.

The three phases will  not be exactly the same, but they should be close to the same.

Another common mistake is to get too much height, so when you land you collapse and can not support yourself for the second phase.

The idea is to have forward motion and run off of the foot rather than land, collapse, recover, and jump for the second phase.

Practice controlling the first phase so that your second phase is almost the same distance, and depending on how well  you can jump off of your off leg will determine if the third phase can be close to equal each of the first two phases.
