  1. No,I don't think they should. This is the way to discipline a child..is punishment. Think about it,where do you think all these kids running around stores WILD and CRAZY and doing things they should not be doing, came from...parents who do not punish their children when needed.

I'm not saying everytime they look at the parents funny they should get  a time out or a spanking but I do think when they start misbehaving and doing things that could hurt themselves...they should get punished for it.

I want to know why everyone makes a HUGE deal out of nothing at all! Since when has everything become abuse and "bad" for children to do...or eat...or think...or say???Its getting really ridiculous!

  2. whoever said punishment does nothing is totally of the target.

WE ALL NEED TO LEARN THAT OUR ACTIONS OR DECISIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES AND SOMETIMES IT LEADS TO PUNISHMENT.

  3. yes, it does nothing.

  4. yes, because you get more flies with honey  than you would with vinegar

  5. i dont believe in punishment, i believe in consequences

time out is punishment to some, to me it is a consequence, i dont have to do it out of anger as punishment is done, i can do it calm and level headed and rational

i also believe in communicating with my child to find out where the behavoir is coming from and making sure they understand why there is consequences in the first place

  6. Punishment is just a negative and hurtful way to handle problems, it teaches how to problem solve with violence and negative ways.  Discipline can at least teach some self control and positive ways of problem solving and doesn't cause harm to a child.

  7. Giving up punishment as a form of discipline? I'm not getting your point...that means that you would discipline them for doing something wrong by not doing anything? All that does is reinforce the negative behavior...

  8. No parents should punish their children or they will never learn to not do the things they were punished for then they will turn into trouble makers and the child might think they can get away with anything
