  1. well if you got the red ring of death then it wasnt your fualt... but you shouldnt have tampered with the xbox. Overheating is a common problem with the xbox. you should contact microsoft and tell them you got the ring of death and ask them if messing with the xbox voids your warranty... if you still have it.

  2. afdas

  3. Just leave the case on and there should be a place that the air comes out of (when the fan goes.) then you get a regular fan that you would use to cool off a room. ( go to http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=pr... ) and point the fan directly at that place.

  4. you should send it to microsoft so they can fix it... i did that and i have no problem with my 360 plus you get a free one month subscription card for xbox live

  5. You voided your warranty.  Ignore those people who say to send it back.  You can try, but be sure to tell the MS rep that the case has been opened so you don't get stuck with the bill to have it shipped back to you.

I am in the same boat as you.  I opened my out of warranty box for a case mod and I RROD'd it.  It's because the heatsink clamps/thermal transfer were already failing and I just gave it the final bit of stress/shaking/twisting.

If it's the three light ring of death than it's time to do the X-clamp replacement mod.  I run my box with the case off after doing this mod and it's fine.  There is no such thing as a "case has been opened" RROD.   The only thing is do NOT turn on the box with the DVD drive disconnected.  I've been told that XBL detects that.

You'll need a small screwdriver, Torx 8, and Torx 10.  Whether you need a socket wrench or philips depends on the type of bolts that come with the kit you buy.  Good luck!  You really can't cause irreparable damage unless you cut a trace or fry something.  Tighten and burn in again if you still get RROD.

  6. Try putting the case back on, and see if you still get the Red Rings. If you don't, try moving your Xbox, so it gets better ventilation. Maybe try putting it up vertically, if it's horizontal, or try putting it horizontally, if it's vertical.

If you DO get the Red Rings, I guess the only thing to do is to send your Xbox to Microsoft and get it repaired.

  7. I assume its a kinda security thing to protect the Xbox3600 system

  8. Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX. They'll tell you exactly what to do and if you have to ship it out to Microsoft, it will return to you in about 2-3 weeks. I did this when mine broke and they sent me a replacement Xbox plus 1 month of LIVE free.

  9. go buy a cooling system you rest your xbox on it and it keeps it cool my friend has one and there only like 30 dollars

  10. youtube RRD FIX and fix it yourslef its not hard i fixed my own

just by watching one of those vids on youtube and my 360 is workin fine 5 months later

  11. u took the case off?lol will bi bi to your waranty idoit

microsoft dosnt even fix it even if u paythe 100 bucks because u open it

  12. You have the 3 rings of death which means its not being overheated its needs to be serviced send it back and they will service it or send you a new one.

  13. this may be a disappointment  to u but your xbox is broken the rrod means general hardware failure. it sounds like ur cpu or gpu going bad

to find out next time u get ur rrod hold sync and eject 4 times each time it will give u a light code from 1 - 4 4 meaning 0 than look ur code up online it will give u the problem

  14. I don't know how new your xbox is but i bought mine in July 08 and supposedly newer models that are being sold since the first model or so have fixed heating problems. Is it a hot small space or too confined in a shelf or somthing?

Just because of the supposed heating problems surrounding xbox..even though mine seemed completely fine the first week.....i decided to not test my luck and use a small fan and keep it pointed right at the front of the system, i've been able to play this constantly for about 5 hours or less at a time. Works great, and stays the same cool temp to the touch the whole time and hardly even goes above slightly warm. A fan conditions it constantly and im pretty sure i'll never ever have a red ring of death.

  15. Well i think i know,  Did you take it appart or just the top off because if appart than yeah it will not work cause you did something...... Or the reason could be its getting to cold in the xbox.  Try putting somthing over it like a see through rap.  And than make sure that its taped or glued down and then poke 5 or 6 little holes in it and IT sould work! or you cut somthing or did something........ Try an xbox 360 elite!

  16. It should be working fine, try putting the case back and make sure that everything you took out is back in..and also check the disk..
