Should art that is created by animals really be considered art?

This can be any medium. Sculpture, painting, molding, coloring....... anything!

  1. Art is defined as something that someone creates that makes people think: whether negative or positive... you would think not but I guess it is.


  2. Well, I guess it all depends on what one considers to be "art"....it's really in the eye of the beholder and too subjective to say with certainty...if someone thinks it's art, to them it is so it's art.

  3. It may not be your style, but personally I don't find certain pieces of abstract art much better, and yet it is considered art.

  4. Perhaps the "animals" should considered human?  Many animals are sentient by definition.  

    So YES.  

    Some of the art done by Apes and Elephants really do seem representational, and certainly elicit emotional responses from human viewers.  If you just looked you would not know who (or what) painted it.  

    Check out the book on Painting by Cats.   Can't think of the title properly.  Very unusual.  Very artistic.  

      And what of the nests woven by some biurds. Art, as in architecture.  Then there is the Bower Birds of (?) New Guinea.  They collect and display items to attract mates.  Art in my way of seeing the term.
