Should boys wear spandex in volleyball?

Should us boys have to wear spandex shorts in volleyball like girls, not the little bootie ones but ones that dont show to much... i know that spandex sounds dumb but boys how many time have you had it where you dive and your shorts fall off, or how many times has it givin you a wedgie, i know im tired of it and am trying to get the rule enforced. If girls do it we should to/

Read this carefully and use your head.

Here in the U.S. popularity of this sport has suffered from negative stereotypes, laws like Title IX, and the popularity of other sports that take away potential players.

Over time, the negative stereotypes have been slowly going away, but what you suggest doing would cancel out any progress made in that area.

Any guy who plays competitively in the U.S. will know exactly what I'm talking about.

Fortunately, the people who make the rules care about the future of this sport. Unless you can convince the people in charge that their sport will be somehow improved with less guys playing, then nothing will change. (good luck on that)

So in the meantime you are going to have to learn to dive without pulling your shorts down.

I don't know how a volleyball player would do that in the first place, but what would I know, I just coach the sport...

well if you want to try it then go on ahead...but i've heard that if your clothes are too tight on a guy then it can lower your sperm count... mabey try getting a different type of shorts... or tie the strings to be tighter than normal...

While I'm proud of young people that work on changing things through the proper channels instead of simply whining and complaining about them, I don't really see this happening. I would tend to be on the opposite side screaming the same ideas as vballa19.

Avoid wedgies by wearing spandex UNDER your shorts or wear briefs.

Avoid your shorts falling down by tying them at the waist.

From my point of view, there seems to be a perversion here lately about a few boys wanting to prance around in Spandex on the volleyball court. I'm tempted to think this is some sort of joke by a few football players who come to the Volleyball section and ask these questions or something to make the negative stereotypes more "funny" to all their friends when they say, "Hey, go to the Yahoo!Answers Volleyball section and see how I'm messing with those douche bag volleyball players."

I'm waiting for one of these same questioners to ask "Is it okay to put tampons in my butt so I don't have those embarrassing sweat marks 'back there' while playing?".

You may be laughing at the above statement, but that is how ridiculous "boys wearing spandex uniforms" is to me.

Like I said before, you have the right to attempt to change things you don't like. It's the American way, and for a young person to attempt to do so is comforting to our future. But, like you have a right to attempt to change, I have a right to oppose you, adamently.

volleyball is cool for anyone wear spandex if u like but i prefer shorts instead cus u might get sweaty from spandex cus u hav to move alot ;) good luck!

Tie the drawstring on your shorts.  That way, they won't fall off when diving.

Guys should not wear spandex.  It'd be embarrassing and decrease the number of males who would give the sport a try.

Women wear spandex because, sadly, the sport is sexualized that way.  It's very unfortunate, but it is what it is.

For all of you who think that spandex improves performance for women, ask yourself one question: If that's the case, then why don't women wear spandex shorts when playing World Cup soccer or in the WNBA?

A question was asked in this forum some time ago that went like this: "Why do women wear spandex when playing vball?"  

One female answerer wrote: "'Cuz guys think it's hot."  That, needless to say, is a very sad commentary for the sport and society.

yea any guy that wants to wear spandex as their uniform for sports should go wrestle or bike...guy vball players should not wear spandex unless it is underneath the shorts (thats what i do (under armour))  

but the excuse of "the shorts falling down" or "getting a wedgie" is c**p because i never have had that, everything is avoidable if you dive the proper way so that all your momentum of the dive is cushioned by your hands transferring the weight to your chest (bla bla bla not getting into the fundamentals of the vball dive)

no spandex as uniforms...uh uh no way

if the top teams in the world play with shorts, we should do just fine playing with them too. volleyball is already kind of thought of as a g*y guy's sport (for some b.s. reason idk y) and spandex would just solidify that. if its under your shorts (compression shorts, etc.) and un noticeable, do whatever you want, but for for the sake of the sport wear shorts over it

well if u think it helps you move faster then yahh. i play volleyball and im a girl so i wear spandex and its much more easier to move in sooo what ever you want to do!
