Hi i would like to know if the brakes would rub a little if i jack up the car and spin the wheels ? I also had some new discs and pads fitted on the rear of my 99 primera. The outer pad isnt touching the disc fully as there is a ring of rust where the pad should be sweeping.

Thanks

  1. While on the jack stand, with the brakes off, your wheels should spin freely. The brake pads should be resting/rubbing on the disk ever so slightly but without applying brake force. If they are not resting on your disk, you might feel a nice jerk when you apply the pedal. Also you said that you put new disks and pads on your vehicle but that there is a ring of rust on it? I hope you didn't pay much for those. If the rust is where i'm assuming it is, around the outer edge, then you can try to find a shop in town that has a brake lathe to mill it down. You will need to find the correct specification for those disks as to how far they can be milled before being replaced. Don't go beyond that spec. or bad things can happen. hope this helps.

  2. Yes they will rub but very lightly, the brake pads and the rotor are suppose to touch.
