  1. They don't like but they do need them even though they l**k them selfs.SO they will be mad  at first but they will get used to it.twice a month wil do.

  2. my cat scratches me and doesn't like baths

you don't have to give them

be careful they might bite and scratch you

if you do give your cat a bath ; once a week

  3. Giving a cat a bath is a fate worse than death. They'll squirm, claw, and meow at the top of their lungs. They hate getting wet. Your best bet is to only bathe your cat if/when he gets into something gross or if he's been ill or starts to smell bad. There are also these wet wipey things you can buy in the pet section of any store. Just wipe them down if needed. No water. No blood. No broken eardrums or scarred forearms. Basically a babywipe.

  4. My cat has never had a bath in her life. And, no, she doesn't stink. Her fur actually smells good. Cats clean themselves. Unless they roll in mud or have long hair combined with being an outdoor cat, your cat would be very thankful if you don't try to bathe him/her. Cats hate water- that's what those sandpaper tongues are for! =)

Have fun with your (new/or not new, I don't know) cat!

  5. I never bathe my cat, its creul!

  6. Cats are naturally clean animals. Always grooming themselves. There isn't any need to bathe a cat as they are very clean creatures. It's not a good idea to keep bathing a cat either as it can lead to skin problems which will cost you more to get them treated.

  7. Most cats don't particularly like baths. Cats are pretty much self cleaning. If you do want to give your cat a bath I would suggest every 4 weeks. Cats skin is more delicate and sensitive than a dogs and shouldn't be bathed as often. My cats have had 1 bath in their lives and that was for fleas about 3 years ago.

  8. yeah you should

    Wash them twice a year

  9. Once a month with baby shampoo is good.  At first my kitty didn't like it but now she knows when it's her turn and I think she looks forward to it.  Gets rid of a lot of loose hair that she doesn't have to swallow.  I just run the tub to half full now and she hops in, she's a good swimmer too.  I noticed when it's real hot she'll bug me when I'm in the bathroom so I'll run some water for her in the tub.  Many times I've come home and found her and her toys in there.  Once they get used to it they let us know if they like it.

  10. If you're allergic to cats, you can cut down on the most common allergens by bathing the poor beastie once or twice a week.  Otherwise, it's not necessary at all unless the cat gets into something nasty you don't want him or her to l**k off himself.  Brushing, however, is a good idea; cuts down on shedding and hairballs.

  11. Unless your cat is unusually smelly or dirty (rolling in mud) or needs grooming because of mats - cats are fastidious about cleaning themselves.  Plus, you have to be very careful not to get water in it's ears or eyes.  Why put yourself through the torture?  If you have to give a cat a bath, take it to the groomers and let them do it.  By the time you've bought all the necessities, and all the time you will use getting ready, washing and drying - the groomer would be more cheaper.  Plus they will clip the claws, clean their ears and can expel the anal glands if needed.

  12. cats generally just wash themselves with their tongues, they are little self-cleansing units who i would never in a million years stick in a bath and pour water on .  they HATE water, they would claw your eyes out to stay away from water.

A skin condition diagnosed by a vet might indicate a bath

  13. Only if they have skin problem, most cats keep themselves clean - especially indoor cats.

Or if you you want to train them to like water- then start them very young.  I used to have one who would jump in the bath tub with me.

If you live where fleas are a problem then it is a good idea to teach them to like it.  Most people give them baths in the kitchen sink but I prefer to put on a bathing suit and take them in the tub with me - they are easier to control if they don't like it.  in this case follow the directions on the bottloe of shampoo.  I prefer a natural shampoo.

  14. If they are indoor cats you should never need to give them a bath.  They have very good hygene.  If they are outdoor cats you may need to dip them for fleas; however, not a bath on a regular basis.

  15. No. Cats are different from dogs.

Unless it falls into a sewer or some other horrible mess, a cat can and should go all its life without a bath.  An un-neutered male cat may smell because it has strong urine which it sprays here and there to mark its territory.

But normally a cat will l**k itself and keep clean without any help and a female or a neutered male will smell good. We have two cats right now that are almost 15 and 17 years of age, and they have no odor at all, or just a faint pleasant one. Neither one has ever been washed in its whole life.

Being washed is very stressful for a cat (not to mention the owner, who usually gets scratched) and entirely unnecessary except in an emergency, as mentioned above.

When I was breeding and showing Abyssinian cats for 7 years, I did wash them a day or two before a show, just so their fur would be at its best and to make sure there were no flea eggs lurking (This was before the days of Advantage and Frontline), but I have had 15 cats in my life so far, and pre-show washing was the only washing I ever did.

  16. yes i have had a cat 4 12 yrs. i bath him in the summer every year that's it bath them when its warm cuz then they wont freeze

  17. my cat isn't a big fan of baths so we usually end up usin the kitty wipes instead of fightin with her

  18. Cats should never be bathed. They bathe themselves, and bathing them in water (with or without soap) can disrupt their natural skin oils and cause dry skin, flakes, and irritation to the poor cat. Plus, cats do not like water. Generally, there's no need to ever bathe a cat.

  19. They usually take care of that on there own  just be sure to brush them regularly..

If they are covered in fleas yes but use cat shampoo

  20. yes, my mom had two Persians and she would give them baths atleast once a month and in between she would kitty wipe them. They always had nice coats. And aside from the scratching my mom would calm them before the bath and she wouldn't let anybody in the bathroom that would freak the kitty out.

  21. Generally they don't need them at all unless they get into something nasty or need one for a medical reason.  They take pretty good care of themselves.  Brushing however is needed.

  22. yes cats should have baths. Each cat should have a bath every 6 weeks. Here is are a few websites:
