Should christians use images for worship purposes?

Worship?  Like expect creation, life, and heaven from? That would be silly, like a man who saw a movie and expected to get love from the movie (internet stuff).

Images of Jesus, Mary, and the Saints are honoring God; like pictures of family, friends, and history honor mankind ... however, the Catechism warns that there should be no images of God the Father ... but images of those who live are like having pictures, video's, and memories of those we love.  If a Christan deemed this as bad, then they should also give up TV, Internet, and movies.

The bible says Jesus gave Peter The Rock the ability to set the rules, so he set the rules, and down through the ages, his successors set new rules under the authority of Jesus through Peter, so the bible says it is okay.  So there.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

No... Many images such as the cross have pagan roots and have no place or value in TRUE Christian worship.

We are admonished to worship with spirit and truth.

John 4:24

God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth.

The Apostles John and Paul both gave instruction to the early Christians on what a Godly view of idols should be.

1 John 5:21

Little children, guard yourselves from idols.

1 Thessalonians 1:9

For they themselves keep reporting about the way we first entered in among you and how you turned to God from your idols to slave for a living and true God.

2 Corinthians 6:16

And what agreement does God’s temple have with idols? For we are a temple of a living God; just as God said: “I shall reside among them and walk among them, and I shall be their God, and they will be my people.

Exo 20:4  Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Exo 20:5  Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Exo 20:6  And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
