I don't get this government! they want people to be healthier and being more acitvie, yet they are making coca cola an extremely unhealthy drink being the proud sponser! maybe it always is, I don't know. what does everyone else think?

of course i understand the value and popularity that coke has and wants to get more and more people wanting to buy it.

  1. Coca Cola becomes exceedingly healthy with a $60 million cheque attached to it!

  2. I'm sure that if another multinational company wanted to pour even more money into the Games than Coca Cola do, they would be pleased to change to a more "healthy" brand.... but I don't think it's going to happen!

  3. What?!  What are you talking about?  Coca Cola also makes water.  Is water unhealthy too?  Coca Cola has been a sponsor for a long time.

  4. good thought

  5. Well I think that it should be!

  6. Uh, maybe London wants $$ to curb costs! Money trumps all.

  7. Coca Cola has its health benefits - nothing works quite so well for settling a queasy stomach, or restoring normality from a hangover.  And coca cola also has diet coke, and coke zero now, so its not all quite so bad as you may think.  And if they have the money to pour into our Olympic Games then there is mutual benefit, as coca cola is rectifying any unhealthiness by supporting such a big healthy sporting event.

  8. CocaCola has been around since the late 1800's.

The company itself is completely loaded, as is McDonalds which are probably two of the richest industries in the world today. They have enough recognition, money, and interest to fund whatever they want - and what better thing to sponsor than the world Olympics? Healthy or not, it honestly doesn't matter.

  9. At the end of the day the government don't care about people's health, or green issues for that matter, as much as they care about being popular. Raises taxes is not generally popular and having Coke sponsor the games reduces the amount of money that will need to be raised from the public purse. I agreed with you this is hypocritical but governments have always been hypocritical.

  10. Coca Cola has been around for the modern olympics for quite 80 years and i believe the same thing for mcd and visa and all your major companys because they are recogizable to any common person you see the classic red can (the scriptic curve of the lettering) or those golden arches or visas bird and you know why they have been apart. its and they make more than coke products as well. coca cola is the most recongized word right next to the word "ok" they become a proud partner because they do more than produce the soft drinks they have instilled a passion of humanitarian resources giving aid. and once you establish a world wide dominance in your field sponoserships will be flodding.

  11. h**l it's the same with McDonald's.
