concorde was THE safest form of transport EVER until the debris incindent...

I am personally terrified of flying but would fly in concorde, I trust the engineering that went into it, it wasnt designed by profiteers it was designed by pioneers.

  1. Glad someone actually mentioned that !!

The concordes are back in future production which will make them better than before.

With this one, it can fly up to 2,400mph at an altitude of 60,000 feet and can go from Japan to  New York City in 6 hours flat.

This one is up to 5 times the speed of sound which speed of sound is 770mph. You are talking almost 4,000 mph or 1/3 that of the NASA Space Shuttle

So expect the first  state-of-the-art Concorde to arrive at an airport near you by 2020 or 2025.

  2. It would be incredible if they did bring it back.  And it was so gorgeous, too.  Not to mention the food and the Concorde room.  Honestly, a trip on Concorde was enough for me to qualify as a vacation =)

  3. I once had the privilege to fly on one of BA's concordes.

I think in today's fuel environment it would be suicide to fly an aircraft that burns that much fuel at a max of 100 passengers.

From what I know from BA (my past employer), the average load factor was only about 40-50%.

But to get to he buttom of it, h**l yeah, they should.. :)

  4. Don't think you will see it return.

Main reason is the high cost of fuel and it will not come down enough in our life time to make it work.

I enjoy the a/c as well but were talking about gross profit/net profit...the name of the game....

  5. They were safe mainly because there were so few of them; so comparing to other types the Concorde numbers looked good.  In today's fuel situation, the ratio of passenger mile vs fuel consumed per flight leg is so high on the Concorde that it would be crazy to operate them.  Hope this helps.
