Should cops from the suburbs be allowed to work in a city if they don't live there?

I jog through the city and see some very young police about my age and when I heard one of them say, I can't wait to go home and get out of this Getto. A lot of them are rookies and can't handle the pressure of the city. I think that they should live where they work because they would respect the people more.

  1. Maybe, but I'm more concerned with the levels of police brutality and corruption in this country that are not being addressed.

  2. I think you're wrong. Should your job determine where you should live? If not, why the double standard? One of the main reasons I prefer to live outside of the area I serve is that I have my privacy. Which is a very important thing to a lot of Police Officers. A second reason is the safety of me and my family. I don't need someone whom I arrested and is not happy with that fact to show up at my door!

Do keep in mind that respect is not something that is to be expected, it is something to be earned.

  3. i can't say i'm in agreement with your statement. the fact is these cops are working in tough areas that most people would not want to be working in. working in high-crime areas is by no means desirable and the police departments there need all the help they can get. if someone is willing to work there, i don't think their address should determine whether they can or not. if they're qualified, they should be able to take the job.

  4. I suggest everyone concerned with Police brutality and corruption ask to go on the "ride along" program, you might get your eyes opened up, and do it on a Friday or Saturday night.
