The amount of ignorance is baffling in today's America. Unfortunately, some people are not educated enough to even know what a "theory" means in science, thinking that the theory of evolution is merely a "theory", as in its everyday language use, like a guess. This is so wrong. See below about what a theory means in its scientific use.

"Some scientific explanations are so well established that no new evidence is likely to alter them. The explanation becomes a scientific theory. In everyday language a theory means a hunch or speculation. Not so in science. In science, the word theory refers to a comprehensive explanation of an important feature of nature that is supported by many facts gathered over time. Theories also allow scientists to make predictions about as yet unobserved phenomena."

  1. A fable should never be taught, only facts. Evolution is fact.

  2. I agree with that most people, especially creationists, do not understand the definition of a scientific theory.  They commonly call evolution a "just a theory".  Well, so isn't gravity.

Creationism is not a science, but religious propaganda and it should not be taught as a science.  If parents want to teach their children creationism, then send them to a private school or teach them on their own time.  Don't teach them with public funds.

  3. As long as evolution is taught, I don't care what the local school board chooses to teach along side it.  I'm confident the evident truth of evolution will hold up to most if not all intelligent students.

  4. in science class evolution should be taught because it is the leading scientific theory, creationism is a religious theory

  5. I don't think there's any actual danger of creationism being taught alongside evolution. I'm pretty sure politicians simply take a stance on this issue so they can simplify their image for their constituents; as not many voters attempt to educate themselves.
