Question:

Should cyclists be allowed to ride on pavements?

This is mentioned in the Highway Code as against the rules of the role and is an offence that you can be fined for. However, the overwhelming majority of cyclists I've met either aren't aware of this or just opt to go on the pavement because they think it's safer. What's the solution?

  1. I don't know where you live, but here in TX., cyclists are allowed everywhere except on Interstate highways.  They have the same rights and responsibilities of automobile drivers.  Here a bicycle can ride on any road as long as they stay in the right hand lane.  They have to stop at stop signs, and follow the same rules as cars.  That's the "rules of the road" here.

  2. Kick them by their side when they bypass you... Hahaha... no... I think you should just tell them off... but I think their main concern is their safety, which is much safer to be on the pavement than on the road...

  3. No they should not be and if they are allowed then they need to "FOLLOW" the rules of the road and be taxed and have the required items that a vehicle has for safety................
