Should cyclists have to display licence plates, pay road tax, and have insurance?

As they seem to think they are immune from the highway code and cause a fair few crashes where people's cars are damaged and need repairing, plus they use the road, so why not charge them road tax, the extra money raised could be used to offset VAT on petrol.

  1. Perhaps, only for those who dont use a bike lane or the footpath/sidewalk.

    Could cause problems though.


  2. To be honest, something like that would be almost impossible to administrate and police so in reality it would just not be practical.

    Additionally can you imagine the furore from the enviromentalists at the thought of using money from cyclists to subsidise motorists.
