Question:

Should doctor and dentist office visits be "formal"?

I've noticed most people get dressed up when they go to such appointments. I would prefer to go casual as I feel it's not a job interview. I also want to address the person by first name, instead of Doctor xxxx. Are my ideas not appropriate?

  1. I doubt they get dressed up JUST for the appointment. I think they come from work or somewhere else they dressed up for.

  2. Yes it is the most formal of occassions.I would wear a tuxedo if i could.

  3. I agree with the dressing down.

But I like to call them Doctor.  They are Doctors after all.  And I like to remember that.

Otherwise I'm just paying some normal person a lot of money.
