As a cyclist (and a driver) I wonder of our roads would be safer if teens learning to drive first took a bicycle safety course first. They would train to drive in traffic, learn the rules of the road and learn basic skills like being attentive and hand signals.

  1. As far as I know, most kids in grade 1 and 2 (lower grades) take bicycle safety at their schools.

It might be a good idea though to remind ourselves about cyclists and remember what it was like riding your bike around before you began driving your car.........AND you will probably STILL be riding your bike from time to time to protect the environment, right? When riding your bike, remember what it's like to be a driver with bikes on the road too.

  2. Good idea but the experience bike riders that are on the roads now dont use the rules of the road so what good would it do !!!!

    Update:

Thought about it more and it could do some good to the point that it might make them better aware of their surroundings, maneuverability and overall understanding.

  3. I am more concerned of them seeing MOTORCYCLES then cyclist. a bicycle can vier off the road to avoid a car but a motorcycle cant
