Should figure skates rust after one time skating?

I just got my figure skates from my skate pro shop at the rink and after I skated I sat down wiped off the ice and put my soakers on. I took off my skates and carried them to the car. Then when I got home I noticed that one of the screws in the heel was cricked in the heel! And I only skated for 35 min-1hr! Thereisn't that much rust and I know i can get them sharpened but that's so weird!

The rust is on the s***w or the blade?  You definitely have to wipe down around the base of the blade where the screws are.  Rust really isn't about never drying your blades, it really only takes one time - although that sounds MIGHTY fast and maybe it was already wet.  In general, it sounds like you didn't dry up top enough and got a spot up there.  I would take it to the pro shop and let them see if it's bad enough to warrant a new s***w.  You don't want your blade becoming loose.  And dry them as well as you can every time! The soakers will help but they are to catch any condensation that builds up from the blades still being cold.  They won't help if the blade is too wet to start with.

When buying skates you need to be careful. You should ask the seller the following, what brand they are, what they are made out of, where they came from (country), and what the blades are made of. Blades should be stainless steel, but not all skates are made of stainless steel. Stainless steel does not rust easily, which is why they are so good for skating, and it gives you an edge. Chances are you were ripped off for your money, and were sold a cheap brand of skates. Normally Pro Shops are an okay place to buy skates, but not every pro shop is great. try buying skates online, i perfer to buy skates at the USFS website.
