Should *gruesome spectacles* of executed murderers be placed at or close to the murder scene?

Fear is a motivator. Fear of pain and death are motivators. There are those who would never commit violent crimes, and those who would commit them if they didn't fear the consequences. If murderers were publicly executed, and if their dead remains were left to rot at the scene of the murder (or outside of the building that it took place in), would this reduce the amount of murder? Some people are savage, and would resort back to the primitive behavior of many thousands of years ago IF they had the opportunity. A gruesome spectacle would bear mute witness to the consequences of violent crime and murder.

Beside the decaying body would be a sign detailing the murder that he/she committed, and above the body there would be a sign that reads "Gruesome Spectacle".

  1. who would Jesus execute?

except for self defence there is no justification to kill people

trying to justify killing people is a sign of mental illness

(executing murderers is executing the mentally ill)

80 years of prison is cheaper than going through appeal prosess

If you ever get railroaded by junk science, will you be in favor of death penalty - then?

you cant set a dead innocent person freee again

when someone is sentenced to life in prison, often they will attempt to commit suicide. . why make it easy for them by doing it for them and giving them an easy way out?

  2. You wouldn't happen to be related to Nero or Vlad the impaler, would you?  Your suggestion is just gucking fross!

  3. no matter what the crime or the consequence people will be stupid enough to commit evil acts. public execution in populated areas that were otherwise open to the public, would be unethical, and would in the long run callus the country into a state of mind that gruesome spectacles failed to forever be "gruesome." for the most part one needs to think about the rights of those around the body to "not" see a decaying body. i believe it is good enough to know that the body decays in the first place, i dont believe that people who are optimistic about the world need to be forced to see, or be forced to accept, such a thing, not in a democratic state anyway.

  4. I am sure that it would stop a lot of murders etc, but I don't think you're thinking this through completely.

For one thing, it's going to horrify children, etc.

And imagine if, say, some family lived together, and say, a man came and murdered the mom of the family. The family did not have the money/means to move, but does that mean the family should have to see a decomposing body outside, reminding them constantly of what happened to their mother/wife?

  5. You are a disturbed individual. Certainly, let's parade the ugliness of the world before millions, surely this will end all crime once and for all.

  6. Well, the only time a body is needed left at the murder scene any longer than it has to (because a fresh cadaver is more important to the coroner-sooner than later) is because evidence like pictures of the body or, identification of the person relavant to the scene takes precendence.

  7. I think the concept is right (just not YOUR version), as this is how it is done in countries like Turkey. But they do it at noon in the center of town (in the city square). Yes, I think it would be good as a deterrent and it should be something like a firing quad. Also, they cut off the hand of the thieves. It does work (however, I think another form of punishment for thieves would be more appropriate, like caning in public). We as a people in the USA have given the criminals too much power and protection. IN and OUT of prisons (I work in one). If a person is to be executed, DO IT  carry it out within 24 hrs. and get it over with swiftly and cheaply!!! This whole judicial system needs some serious over hauls and back to basics of law and order. I know there is a large percentage of people that will not agree, but they have obviously been sheltered, not been personally exposed to these vile people.... many of whom will be their neighbor someday once they are released. Even in Bible days, they had such consequenses. We are not talking about a kid stealing gum, we are talking about serious wrong doing.
