Actually, as I hate the leafs, and hate Mats. I think he should stay and they can continue to finish 24th in the league behind Florida and Phoenix.  But if I was trying to improve the team and rebuild, it is time to take these steps.

yes and no...no because I'd like to see him finish his career in toronto, but yes if he has a change at the Cup somewhere else next year.  the leafs wont conted with him, so they might even be better off trying get younger, but hopefully he'll only leave if its for a contender....oh and if you're going to preemptively call people idiots, you should get the guy's name right.  because i think Mats Sundin is the center with the Maple Leafs.

Mats Sundin is old. If he wants to win the Cup before he retires, he is going to have to leave the Leafs. They are simply not going to compete in the next couple of years. It is as simple as that. Your homer-attitude will not change that. Based on that, I think if he were smart he'd hit the road before all the contenders are out of room.

If he doesn't care about that, then I do not blame him for staying with the Leafs. He has been there a long time. It is a matter of deciding what his priorities are: home, winning, or retirement. If I were him, I would go with winning.
