Should i Clean a old tv antenna before i put it on the house?

I'm going to stick up a older tv antenna. looks in good condition. Just Dull on the metal rods. Should i Clean the metal rods up with something to get the best signal

I tryed steel wool and works ok but is there any type of coating on the antenna that i should worry about.

  1. NO cleaning needed......it will make no difference in quality.

    Be sure to check the connections and WD-40 the connection clips & wingnuts. Re-tighten securely, but do not over tighten.

  2. Basically the only thing that needs cleaning on your antenna are the terminals  where your cable will be connected to.  Some emery cloth will do just fine.
