  1. If you keep your stitches close ,once is enough ;)))

  2. three tiny 1/8 to 1/4 inch long stitches, and a back stitch all the way round. Single thread please!!

My great grandmothers had us doing these seams when we were very small girls, before we started to school, even. The better our seams were the better the fabrics we could get our grubby little paws on and the more things we could make for gifties for others.

A single seam in knit fabric is sufficient for most projects, even for babies and puppies. Just do nice neat tight knots to start and finish and leave no threads hanging out!

  3. For hand stitching, go around twice and make it a backstitch. That will be even stronger.

  4. It all depends on how many times you want to repair it.  If you don't mind repairing it, use a single seam.  If you'd prefer to be finished with it and not have to repair it repeatedly, double it.  Doing the double seam with backstitching is even better.

  5. I think a double sew is better at least then you know the penguin is going to stay together in one piece. What a cute present :-)
