  1. you should join the army fro the educational benefits you would get by kearning something other than the infantry then tou could continue your education after your enlistement is up to get a better job as a cicilian

  2. I warn you in advance that I am biased against your enlistment, but I will attempt to give you an unbiased perspective.

By enlisting-you are telling yourself that you are unhappy with life and that you are willing to risk losing it for a gamble at opportunities that could improve if you signed your name on the dotted line. There are a lot of dotted lines you can sign in life, but one should not require your life as a whole in return.

Psychologically, military service is your subconscious mind's way of saying that it's okay if you get killed because you are willing to kill other people. The little voice inside of you really wants to love a long and happy life, but you are exposing your vulnerability to short-term gratification over long-term wisdom.

I recommend that you pursue an income as an entrepreneur providing services to people that you would do for free because you love doing it so much. Many people make the mistake of working their whole lives without giving themselves an outlet for their negative emotions. Creative hobbies are perfect for generating income as well as for cathartic release.

I would rather continue dialogue with you to prevent you from losing your life for a war you didn't start. Email me if you have any further questions I can help you with personally.

In closing, there's a great online movie called "2012 - The Future of Mankind" by Michael Tsarion (Taroscopes.com) and in it he gives a presentation about how the inner ego manifests on the outside in the form of wars, criminal dictatorships, etc., but he reminds us that before we can change the world we have to change ourselves, our way of thinking, and resolving conflict.

Stay alive and live for yourself. Pursue life. Pursue knowledge and wisdom instead of fire and brimstone. Look inward for the outward answer.

  3. I know a couple of guys that are/were infantry. They are a tight group and proud of being infantry. Going infantry is also a stepping stone to being a Ranger. I would also consider infantry to be a good choice if you plan to make the Army a career and/or become an officer.

  4. its nota death wish... but on active duty you WILL go over seas.. but that applies to every one reguardless of the your mos.

Only one way to find out "if the shoe fits"....try it...

    Good luck.

  5. I think by cicilian, the above person meant "Civilian", and I agree with what he says.

  6. If you are pondering the likelihood of being injured or killed in action as a deterrent to joining the Infantry, I have your answer.

    NO!

    Do not join the Infantry!

  7. Be a Tank Crewman if you want to go combat arms.  You'll have more protection that way.  But then again don't be a tanker if you want to go to ranger school, because its almost impossible for tankers to get ranger school.  Infantry kind of sucks to be honest.  If you score high on your ASVAB test I suggest you go into something more appealing than infantry.  Save that for the guys that barely  qualify for the Army.

  8. If you join the Army infantry, you are asking to be shot at or have a grenade thrown at you. This is what the infantry does, the nitty-gritty of the armed forces.

  9. some people are in the Army for the fighting.  They love it, and get excited about going back over to Afghanistan time and again.  Not a death wish, but the risk remains... and you'll see death and have to deal with it for sure, which may mess you up mentally.  Its your choice.  Talk to people in the Army... many are on myspace, but not likely that they will share all the gory details with you.

  10. Sure, it's great. But if your smart and looking into the future for a good job in the civilian world you should try out the Navy. Better chances, better education, great benefits. Try out http://mynavyonline.com if you're interested. Also for general army, go ahead and go to http://www.gruntsmilitary.com.

  11. Well, i plan to enlist in The Army or Marines, and im joining infrantry, or i might try to be a sniper. One thing to remember is that its like your going to be charging into machine guns, in a death march. The current war in Iraq has dropped ALOT and the taliban is retreating to afghanistan. IF your in infrantry, you may be shipped to Iraq and find yourself in the war, but its leveling down, and you may find yourself in the deserts of afghanastan, or streets of Iraq. The Army will train you to prepare for ever comes at you. Also remember there are several career options you can choose from. I would suggest visiting the nearest army enlistment station ( theres a marine corps one down the road from my house) and talk it over with someone to see your options. ill put a link to army .com down below and search through there too. Be sure your commited to this because once you commit, you cant back out.

  12. If you want infantry, no better service than the army. They offer bigger bonuses and shorter tours. Aside from that, yes, you'll go wherever the fighting is almost 100% of the time.

If you're second guessing yourself now, I say consider some of the other 150 plus jobs the Army has. They have some of the best. I'm a little biased yes but I know the programs well enough to sell them.

Rangers is a great, intense program. But it's for the elite. Like I said, I'm guessing you're already second guessing yourself. Rangers is something someone like yourself should reconsider once in the Army and have seen a little as to make a more informed decsion.

  13. Listen, if you want to go infantry, go. Just research about it a little more. Some people here will tell you all kind of things, some good some straight stupid about the lifestyle.

Read some books. There are thousands of personal collections and it will not mess you up in the long run unless you don't take care of yourself. That can happen in any job. I got wounded as a paralegal, but never in any combat tour as an infantryman. And there is no 'death wish'. General Petraeus and Colin Powell are infantry. Do look like they have death wish to you? So grow up and relax. Learn about what the infantry is, what the Army Rangers are and do. You can be all. I did and was told I couldn't.

The life is rough and not many can hang, but you will be forged in the fire. We separate the 'rockstars' from the 'groupies'.

Do what your peers don't do: read and get some insight Army or Marine, UK or America, doesn't matter what period. a grunt is a grunt:
