  1. I suggest you choose nursing, and get your BSN, or better yet go for MSN and become a nurse practitioner (NP) you can specialize too. Or you can be a PA (phycian assistant). NP is like a doctor. More and more doctors don t want to see Medical or geriatric or women patients and the reimbursement for Medicare patient is so low, that NP have to step in and take over. Many NP's create private practices with MD's. It is hard work but, very rewarding, the patients you see will think you are the doctor. You will find many opportunities, and if you have experience you can make a very good living.

  2. I asked myself this same question about 2 years ago.  I can't tell you what to do but  a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner sounds like the perfect career for you.  This is what I have decided to do.  Just get your bachelors degree in nursing-BSN first which will take 4-5 years depending on your school and how you work with the prerequisites.  You will have to check with the schools for graduate school in which you are interested in, but most require you to work 1 or 2 years with your BSN as a registered nurse before you apply.  Once accepted you will do a two-to-two-and-a-half year program and you can pick the specialty degree of masters of science in nursing with a specialty in women's health care. All of this should not take any more than 7 to 8 years again depending on your school of choice and how you work, which you will not be in school all of those years because you will be working at least one of them.  you will get the title of a women's health care nurse practitioner and you will be a mid-level healthcare provider performing many of the duties of a doctor and working side by side with physicians and many other healthcare professionals, also the pay is pretty good, very good.  You will be a step ahead of a Registered Nurse and you can work on the level with a doctor.  Do some google searches on womens healthcare nurse practitioners and I promise you will find some great information, also you can ask more questions on here about them also.  Then a good website is allnurses.com  Hope I have helped, good luck in your endeavors :-)

  3. Being a nurse or a nurse practitioner would probably be a better bet for you.  There would be a lot less schooling, you get more patient contact, and the money still isn't bad. I would recommend getting your BSN (bachelors) so that you have more job opportunities and it would make it easier to become a nurse practitioner. A nurse practitioner is a step between a doctor and a nurse (very similar to a physicians assistant). It is 2 years in addition to the BSN, and you could then prescribe medicine and handle the basic thing doctors do. You could become a midwife at this level and deliver babies, though those programs may be competitive since so many people like to work with babies. Working in OB/GYN is very competitive, but it sounds like you would be interested in ootherspecialties too.

  4. hey, theres a lot of other careers where you could help women that arent in the medical field!

    You could be a psycologist?

I would not advise to go into the medical profession because you pretty much have to be a biology/human anatomy and physiology buff. you have to have an interest in medicine and biology to be a doctor.

  5. I heard from a teacher once that an average person may change professions five times in their life. Basically, if you decide to become a doctor, you shouldn't limit your studies so if the job doesn't suit you, it won't be so hard to jump into another. You could be a teacher, but that's along the lines of helping children so I don't know if you would be interested in that. Fields of forensic science might have something to do with medicine, but you will be helping people. Or you could join some organizations that raise money for people. In fact, you could get some good ideas by searching for charities on the Internet. :DD I hope you can find what you are looking for~!!

  6. I agree with what the others are saying about BSN and becoming a NP, NFP, or PA, but what concerns me is that you have "no interest in medicine" and your math is average..... try counseling.

Yes, people do change careers about an average of 5 times in their life. Good Luck and pursue your dreams.

Make it what you want and take what wantwnat from this.
