  1. The biggest threat is falling trees and branches and flooding.  The latest reports show between 6 and 15 inches of rain falling in a short time and the tidal surge of three to six feet.

You may very well be affected in that you can loose power, be unable to travel due to blocked or flooded roads.  But you should be fine.  Make sure you have fresh water stored because the drinking water is often unsuitable after such flooding.  Sewage can back up into the water system.  I recommend filling every available container and drinking any milk or juice right away if the power goes out.  It will only spoil.  I hope you have a battery powered radio and flashlights, candles etc. and extra batteries.  The storm will pass within a day or so but in the aftermath you can be without power or unable to travel for several days.

  2. At this point, there's little to do except to hunker down.

It's approaching midnight in Brownsville, TX as I type this and the first serious rainbands are passing through. In about two hours, it will rain nonstop until the storm passes.

The best thing to do is find a room that has no windows, preferably a bathroom. In an emergency, you can get in the bath tub and pull a mattress over you. But keep away from all windows and do not light candles. Use flashlights for a light source.

Hurricanes are very loud and fierce, but since this storm is only a Category One, it should be over in about 6 hours. And most buildings will survive the winds.

Sorry, I couldn't offer more advice , but the storm is virtually off the coast of Brownsville.

  3. if your talking about hurricane dolly then its just a category 1 and it shouldnt be that bad but its better to be safe then sorry just board your windows up

  4. a category 2 doesnt do much damage

    no dont be afraid

unless it turns into a category 5!

then you should run to the hills!

  5. no do you  remember the story of Jesus and the fishermen out fishing there was a storm they were afraid they woke Jesus up because they were afraid

he told them not to be afraid he spoke to the waters to be still even the waters obeyed him God will not out his children any place his grace can't carry them
