im 15. my numbers are 5' or 5' 1" and 94 pounds. im always on on-and-off diets and am always on the treadmill (which is in my room so i can't avoid it). i don't get extremely fat when i overeat but my stomach bulges out and my face looks stumpy (not a double chin but it's like really round and fat-looking). so i always watch what i eat because of those two areas. i have to always find the lowest calorie food like light bread that's 40 cal/slice, fat-free cheese that's 30 cal/slice and turkey that's 25 cal/slice. and then after eating that 135 cal sandwich i would immediately get on the treadmill and burn everything off. is this necessary? are there other ways to treat this?

  1. just eat healthy food.

please don't eat fried oily food.

    steam vegetables.grill meat

    don't watch your weight!:)

  2. You should not be concerned about your weight at all. Your BMI actually puts you at being underweight.

What you SHOULD be concerned about is your health. Now, obviously being underweight does not equal being unhealthy, but how you're approaching your weight and how you seem to perceive yourself does seem pretty unhealthy. You should primarily work toward being healthy (doing some cardio workouts and eating healthy foods like fruits, veggies, pasta, whole grains, fish, poultry, etc.), and looking healthy and thin should come naturally.

Your comment about your stomach bulging out after you eat is actually kind of silly. Obviously your stomach is going to expand to some degree when you put stuff in it; it takes time to digest the food. Everyone's stomach does this after they eat. It's completely normal and logical. It is absolutely not necessary to burn off all of your calories that you eat by going on the treadmill. Actually, you burn several hundred calories a day by just existing (it takes calories to make your heart pump, breathe, keep your body temperature up to 98 degrees, etc.). If you want to maintain your weight, eating around 2,000 calories per day (as long as you incorporate some activity into your day, like walking around or cleaning or something) should be a good amount.

Quite frankly, it sounds like you're on your way to an eating disorder, and that is certainly something that you want to start avoiding NOW. You'll be much better off keeping yourself at a normal, healthy weight and activity level.

  3. sounds pretty normal

  4. No, your BMI is at the 13 percentile which means that you're at a healthy weight. =) To find out your BMI, click on my source. =) You are at a good healthy weight and you shouldn't be worrying at all. In fact, the lowest weight you should possibly be and be healthy is 89lbs. Lower than that is underweight. Just live life as is and keep a wary out on not over eating. You really shouldn't be worrying.

  5. you are CERTAINLY not fat at all, and anyone telling you anything remotely sounding like that is on heavy medication! you're just fine!

  6. You should be concerned, but not so much

  7. I understand what you mean about being light-weight and still stumpy feeling/looking.   You're actually super-skinny (don't play like you don't already know that) but you probably just have a high level of fat as compared to muscle.  That treadmill is only going to make you look gross and sickly.  You'll keep losing weight, (already thin enough!) and not being toned up enough for it to look right (bulging stomach and fat face).  I used to be like that when I was your age.  You HAVE to do weight training.  You wont get all muscle-bound looking (lol i know that's what people think).  You actually just need to tone up.  And EAT A LOT.  (You'll be surprised how much better you'll look by eating!)  But you have to have to have to be doing strength training and working on your problem areas rather than just running (duh).  You can get yourself an ab regimen and do facial exercises as well (they work if you do it for long enough).  You can also get those new skin tightening creams and lotions and use them on your face.  Your skin will look a lot better too.  Counting calories is for fat a-s-s-e-s, not chicks like us.  All that calorie counting will just make you a skinny, pudgy girl (you already kind of are).  You need to shed fat and replace it with muscle.  If you had a six pack, you wouldn't feel the way you do about yourself.

  8. you are @ my goal weight

  9. you need more then 1500 calories a day for the average person if you dont then maybe your body went on starvaton mode where it does not burn any of your fat to live

  10. Time to worry a tad less about body and a little more about soul.

  11. Sounds like the beginning stages of anorexia nervosa.  You do not want to get caught up in that - it is very unhealthy - and although it can be cured - you may have an eating/image disorder for the rest of your life - like me ( i was 15).  Your weight right now is fine - and a few more pounds would still be fine.

  12. i think you should be concerned about eating healthy not losing or maintaining a weight you are a young lady who needs to just have fun, maybe instead of being on a diet which you do NOT need at your age, i wonder if you have thought of joining a volleyball or basketball team? my teen daughter did this and she has never had weight issues and she has a ton of muscle plus she will be getting scholorships! so not only can you do this but also maybe help pay for college! good luck and dont focus too much on your size

  13. Yeah, um worrying now isn't going to be healthy when you're older, not that you shouldn't stay healthy.  But give it a little bit of rest and live your life.
