  1. is this how he always does sparring? my instructor sometimes does similar things. often, he tells us use only hands, feet, or even once I could only headbutt heh. this is a good drill to do sometimes it teaches you to adapt. no doubt the best person to talk to would be your instructor about this. I think you should tell him about it. no doubt he'll explain it to you if he's worth his salt.

  2. he must have his reasons and he is the teacher?

  3. True in most cases the front leg is faster  but not when your partner knows that is the only kick you will use.Front leg kicks are best used to attack the knees as your opponent trys to close in and you use either  front kick or side kick.

There many techniques that are dangerous but control is the true discipline .

  4. not unless u wanna hurt your partner! haha

  5. no

  6. ive never taken karate...so i dont know if thats normal...but in tkd when we spar its unhead of to not use it unless your doing step drills. i was told that your back leg is slower but more powerful and your front leg is faster but weaker so i dont know why you should be prevented from using both legs...and no dont be mad, do what your instructor says. maybe he has an obscure point hes trying to make...i dont know.

  7. No.

One of the biggies in karate is SELF-DISCIPLINE...

That includes doing things the way your teacher tells you to do them!

  8. don't get angry at him, he may just want to prevent any injuries. if u really want to do it, just ask him about it. don't get angry at him

  9. Don't be upset. If you think about it you telegraph your kicks less than if you were yo use your back leg.BUT it is important to learn both. Speed from the front and power from the back.

  10. He's prolly right, and sparring is indeed dangerous. I broke my friends leg with a leg kick from my back leg so I know this first hand. /cry Your back foot is dangerous and unless your against highly experienced opponents you shouldn't use it unless you really are in a position where you need to hurt someone, which you shouldn't be in. I think I just paradoxed myself but meh.

  11. Take things as they are. Punch when you have to punch. Kick when you have to kick.

Anger is caused by a lack of self disipline and there are reasons why you are not allowed to perform such task.

Until you master a certain technique then maybe your Instructor may allow you to use your back leg.

By your question I can see the reason why

    Learn and be silent

  12. He may require this drill once in a while, or for students new to sparring, but it should not ALWAYS be that way.

As you advance, you should be allowed to use either foot.
