Should i be paying tax? grrrrrrrrrr?

i am a 15 year old school girl and i waitress 3 nights a week,

recently i have been paid cash in hand but now it goes into my bank. i got my first pay slip and i have to pay 9.40 a week untill i get my national insurance number? is there anything i can do to stop me paying it?

  1. bring your pay stub to a local job center counselor, or tax place and ask the question.  See if it is a legal deduction.  If it is, then hurry up and get your national insurance number (I think it's called a social security number).  When you go to another country, you have to follow their laws:)  and that's ok:)


  2. This all sounds like rubbish to me. Tax has nothing to do with having a National Insurance number.

    You need to ask your employer for a form P46 - sign this to say it is your first and only job and they should then put you on code 543L cumulative which means you can earn £104 pw without having tax deducted.
