I'm a uk 10.5 boot and im not sure if i should use a wide board, I'm no expert but would like to give myself the best chance when i go away again. The board i currently use is a burton bullet (wide) but i found it quite hard to turn with at speed. Any sensible advice appreciated, cheers.

  1. Size 10 is about the size where you should start looking at a wide board.... best bet is to stand on the board with your boots on and see how much overhand you get.

Wide boards are harder to turn, but if you ride a narrow board, you will probably catch your toes when you turn.

  2. As said by the guy above you may need a midwide board but it depends on your stance also. The best thing for you to do is go down your local store and with your boots on stand on a couple of boards regular, midwides and wides, and see how much overhang you get. You should be looking at not much more than 1 cm overhang on your toe and heel edge, much more than this and you are in danger of toe and heel drag which isent good. If you live in the uk and are near one of the snowdomes (xscape) then you should go down TSA, as they let you demo the boards before you buy. Good luck with the riding.

  3. Burton make a range of mid-wide boards that could be the answer. The Royale is particularly good at a reasonable price.

The answer above is right - at 10.5 you might get away with a narrower board depending on your stance. if you stand more or less straight across then the chances are you'll get toe drag

Also check your binding set-up to make sure your boot is centralised on the board.

  4. You may already know this but,

the wider and shorter the board the slower it is so if your a beginner you should have a wider board.

Im more of a skiier but..... same principal.

i would say though your better of getting a pair of skiis ;)
