Should i be worried???

okay, i am in college, i'm dating this Iraqi guy, he says he wants me to go with him to Iraq, but i don't want to, he swears we'll come back in a couple days he just wants to see his dying mother, and i feel awful, but i also hear that many americans have done that and never came back, should i go???

tell him that you're scared that you won't come back. let him go to see his mother, but if you don't wanna go then don't.

Personally I've no problems going to Iraq, Iran or any country in the Middle East, since I lived in the ME for over 15 years (10 years in Iran)

But I'm perplexed that why is it so important for him to take you to see his Mom, if you are only dating and not married yet. I don't believe his family would really appreciate that.

Now it may be for that he was born here in the US or came here at a very young age, but obviously he isn't very familiar with his true culture.

So I would stay out of this one trip for now.

BTW: Tell him iceman said " Ahlan va Sahlan".

Hiya. I felt a sudden worry when I read this question. I hate the thought of you going out there- and I don't even know you! Please, please don't go. It is such a dangerous country and although this poor boyfriend you are with wants you to go with him, he should go on his own. Which is perfectly possible. Just because you can't go with him doesn't mean he can't see his mother. He could see his mother without you. The fact is, it isn't worth the risk. It's a very, very dangerous country especially for women. You will feel uncomfortable, you will be treated much differently and it's a whole different world. Please listen to me because I really care, don't go.

No, do NOT go. There are too many horror stories that become reality. As well, Iraq is a highly dangerous place to go.
