  1. personally i dont think vegans are particullary healthy because they dont eat what they need to survive. like they cant eat foods that give them protein certain healthy sugars and things like that. vegetarian is way healthier choice because it allows you to eat dairy and other fods necessary to survive.

  2. Hi,

Don't listen to the trolls! I think that you should start out vegetarian, because it is easier to do. Beans, nuts, legumes, faux meats, and vegetables and fruits. There are tons of possibilities for food options. Try it!

  3. no

  4. well it depends on what you like chicken, tomatoes, steak, lettuce, ham, or cheese. and you shouldn't because you are 13(so am i) but at this age you need the protien to grow.

  5. what is your real reason for wanting to be? meat is good for you and if its for the sake of animals or something omg get over it. thats how the world goes things eat other things to survive.

  6. my moms a veggitarian.

veggitarian food is more expensive...... but taste really good!

and my mom is verry healthy btw.

ohh and you need to eat peanuts and stuff for iron or somthing. i forgot what it was but peanuts have stuff in it that meat does.

  7. Humans are designed to be omnivores and you can have a serious lack of protien, but there are ways to get around that.  Try to make an informed decision.

  8. I have a friend who's a vegan, but she has celiac's and she is anemic,

so the only thing she can really eat is vegetables. but shes pretty miserable due to that.

protein can be acquired from soy products so as long as you plan out your meals carefully, protein deficiency shouldnt be an issue. Supplements would also help with the other vitamins/minerals and amino acids that you would lack.

There are health benefits due to the decreased intake in fat and cholesterol. Also, fewer of the hormones and such would be taken in also.

but if you dont know what you should actually do, eating meat in moderation would also bestow health benefits while lessening certain complications that arise if you arent careful as a vegetarian. you can always decide when you have a little more resolve on the topic.

    personally though,

only thing i eat is meat. lol

farm animals would be extinct without people like me

  9. i think its great!

but when you do that, you need to have everything well portioned, thats probably y ur aunt got sick.

    but go for it!!

  10. I'd recommend  starting out as a vegetarian. There are lots of alternative meat products out there and as long as you eat a balanced diet and make sure you get the nutrients needed then you will be fine. I started being a vegetarian when I was 10 and didn't have any problems.

Later on you could then consider becoming vegan, although this takes a lot more research and commitment [you wouldn't believe how many foods contain milk powder or milk proteins].

  11. i dont think so it is ok to have salad but you should have eat or chicken some times to

  12. I say go for vegitarian! I am one, and honestly you save money as opposed to needing more. Just have what you usually do without meat.

Take your vitamins and eat plenty of protein enriched foods [beans!]. Make sure to bring it up at a doctor check up too for extra help.

Im 14 and i started when i was 9, it wasnt hard at all for me but if you are a die-hard meat fan it might be.

Vegans seem to have alot more health rpoblems when they dont get nutrion. But thats a risk with every diet. If you need see into supplements. Not eating meat is actually more healthier :]

  13. NO!! NO!!! WE ARE MENT TO EAT MEAT!!! MEAT IS GOOD!!!! EAT MEAT!!! PETA LIES TO YOU!!! ALL THOSE VIDEOS ARE TAKIN IN THIRD WORL COUNTRIES!!! PETA IS A BUNCH OF DIRTY LIARS!!!

  14. I don't think it's a good idea to become a straight-on vegan at 13 years of age, especially since it sounds like your friend may have more influence on your decision than she needs to.

It is true that more veggies and less meat are good for you and it is true that some animals raised to be slaughtered are treated badly but neither of those should make you want to become a full-fledged vegan.

Choosing a food lifestyle is about YOUR body and YOUR choice and what's best for YOU, not what your friend tells you and not what other people have or have not experienced with following a certain diet.

If you enjoy meats, then don't become a vegan but there are other options.

I am not and have never been particularly fond of steaks, hamburger, and bacon so I became what is known as a semi-vegetarian though I don't really refer to myself as such. I don't eat beef or pork but I still eat chicken, turkey, eggs, and seafood. And that is MY choice because I didn't like the taste of the other foods nor what they did to my stomach.

But not every body is the same. You need to find the right balance of food for you and, honestly, you're not going to be able to do that at 13 and going from eating all the types of food available to you to becoming a vegan will wreak havoc on your body and may make you feel worse than you'd expected.

Go to a library and check out some books on different ypes of vegetarians and see which one is best for you, if this is what you want to do. Or look it up online. This is the site I went to when I was first wondering about all the differences.

You should talk to your parent(s) about this as well, possibly even your doctor because changing your daily diet is a BIG step and you may need adult guidance on this one. Many vegans and even some vegetarians have to take vitamins and supplements to make up for the fact that they don't get enough of one or two things because they don't eat certain foods.

I am thinking you probably don't want to have to give up snack foods like potato chips and candy bars and cookies and such as that either. Well, vegans don't eat that type of stuff because most of it is processed and made with oils taken from animals fats.

Plus, it can get really pricey to buy some of the natural and organic foods and to keep the fridge stocked with enough vegetables to keep you full.

Don't let your friend talk you into something or make you feel like you have to be or eat a certain way to be around her. That's not what friendship is about.

    Stay healthy.
