Should i bother taking my mobile on a P&O cruise & am i able to access my bank account from ATM's overseas

We go to noumea, lifou and vila. If anyone has been on this cruise i'd love some feedback.

  1. There is ATM's on the ship.

    Also I believe at the concierge's (spelling) desk, you can get cash.

    Phone, nope don't even bother with it.  Once your on the ocean you will loose connection.

    We tried it right off the coast of Key West, and I got no signal.

ATM yes you can access your bank acct, but when you withdraw you get what you ask for LOL So when you w/d 100 it wont be dollars, it will be pesos, Euros, etc depending on where you are.   Most mobiles dont work and if they do, the roaming cost per call would be very expensive.  Shut off the phone! You're on vacation!

  3. Yes you can use ATM's on the ship and on land.  On land you will receive the currency from that country.

    I took my phone and BlackBerry on a cruise and both worked - you just have to be set up for interntional. I contacted Cingular (now AT&T) and signed up for International roaming for my regular phone.  It wasn't that expensive and it gave me the piece of mind being able to call home.
