  1. you shouldn't breed them for the first time after 8 months. she's too old and besides it's very risky. get her a friend :) she'll love that just make sure it's the same gender as her.

  2. Sorry if you haven't bred her in the past it's just not safe. After about 8 months old their pelvic bones fuse together if they haven't had a litter. After this point, it would be extremely difficult to deliver.

But she would very much appreciate a friend. :)

  3. She is far too old to breed from (in fact she would be very unlikely to get pregnant anyway - but it is not worth the risk).

A piggy should have her first litter before the age of 12 months as the ligaments around the pelvis become less flexible and the pelvic bones do not open properly for the birth. If a female has had a previous litter it is generally safe (depending on the health and breed of pig) to breed up to 2-3 years of age, Certainly not 5-6 !  Get her a female friend.

*****Bangs head against brick wall .......PELVIC BONES DO NOT FUSE TOGETHER*****

  4. I think she'll be to old to breed now and anyway, why do you want her to get pregnant?

  5. The age limit is 8 months or she will die unless she gets a c-section but she is still most likely to die...

A friend would be nice but if she doesn't seem lonely she may like being an only child.

  6. you should I just got done breeding my guinea pigs for the first time and nothing went wrong. But it takes a some time so the the babies can be away from the mother

  7. STOP,STOP,STOP!

If you breed her she'll die one of the most excruciating of deaths.

This happened to me and plenty of others.I don't know why more people don't know that when the female g.p. is older her pubic bones fuse and if she gets pregnant the babies can't come out.The outcome might be different if she'd had multiple births all thru her life.Leave well enuf alone and I'm sure you guinea pigs is happy just having you all to herself. If you simply must have another pig (female only)read up all you can about quarantining the pig 1 to 2 months before introducing her slowly to yours.New piggies must be quarantined before allowing them near your other piggies.

Please see this web page on pelvic bones (symphysis)fusing:http://pet.justanswer.com/veterinary-car...

  8. She should have a friend.  Guinea pigs are never truly happy alone.  Adopting an adult female from a shelter and slowely introducing them on neutral territory till they can live together is best.

She is too old for breeding.  Even if she could get pregnant it would be extremely dangerous as if guinea pigs are not bred from very young their hip bones fuse together and they can (and often do) die in childbirth.

  9. There is never a good age to breed a sow:

  10. you shouldnt because she should be abale to breed itself and if you get her a friend and its a boy the boy will eat its babys

  11. you shouldnt breed them because if you get her a male you wont be able to hold her and play with her!!!

    i hope i helped :D

    good luck :D

  12. Do not breed her.

"She must have her first litter before she is 10 months old - as after this the pelvic bones fuse together and the mother will more than likely have problems giving birth to the babies, this may result in the death of both mother and the babies." http://www.diddly-di.fsnet.co.uk/breedin...

You can consider getting another female guinea pig as a friend, but have an extra cage handy just in case they do not get along.
