Should i buy a cadillac catera?

I am about buy a cadillac catera for what i think is a cheap prize. but for what i know they stopped making this car years ago because of its not easy to find replacement parts

  1. I think the 2000 had issues with the wiring going wrong.. I bought one about 2 years ago with existing problems and paid $950 thinking i was getting a helluva deal come to find out it had electrical problems and it would of cost me thousands to fix it so I scrapped it for a loss of about $600+.. I would definately have a mechanic look at it b4 buying.


  2. No, you will never find parts for it and when you do they will rob you blind.

  3. The reason its so cheap is because it will cost you a second mortgauge to get it fixed, and trust me, it will need to get fixed. The catera is one of those cars that just needs to be left alone. Unless its insanely cheap (like $500) dont buy the car.

  4. the catera is also known as the WORST CADILLAC EVER MADE!!

    GM wanted to put a V6 in a cadillac and still get the same power as a V8 engine--which is pretty standard on cadillac.  So they went to the Germans for help.  Do you know the catera actually has a timing belt as well that snaps early and screws up the whole engine completely?  The worst reliability ever to hit cadillac, then the public and GM finally agreed that the catera was worthless and just scrapped it!!!  Way worse than Oldsmobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I agree that even a free catera would be a rip-off, cause it will cost you several thousand in repairs!

    Never buy a catera, let alone anything from GM!

  5. my cousin bought one brand new, and it was a piece of c**p. I have read reviews from editors and consumers and they all say the same thing.... STAY AWAY.....

    I wouldn't take the car for free just because I know within a month it will leave me stuck some where....

    As I remember cadillac catera is expensive to insure.
