  1. I would buy a camcorder then if you are looking for video. In my experience, the video capture feature on my digital camera is no where near as good quality as my dad's camcorder. Even though I use a $200 digital camera, my dad's Sony HDD camcorder gives excellent video and it has a bigger range of features than a standard still camera with video capability. Look for a camcorder that records to a hard disk (HDD) so you can record lots of hours before uploading and burning them to dvds. camcorders also take high quality pictures too lol

  2. DO NOT GET A DVD BASED CAMCORDER.

DVD camcorders compress too much. The video - for editing - is terrible. If you never plan to edit the video on a computer or upload to YouTube or other similar service or have no plans to email the video, then you may be OK...

Hard drive and flash memory camcorders are better, but the video is still compressed a lot.

MiniDV tape camcorder provide best available quality. DV and HDV is the least compressed which results in best video quality.

A decent camcorder typically won't take very good stills. And a decent still camera won't take very good video.

I like the Canon ZR950 and the Canon PowerShot SD1000.

  3. in my opinion you have to buy camcorder

for example canon hg10 is a great camcorder :)

  4. canon hv20 voted best camcorder 2007. you can record in highdef and standard def and has progressive scan as well for great videos. I wish the still pics were as good.

if you want a camera, find one with these new technologies such as face detection, image stabilisation for less blurry and well lit faces.

  5. for good still images, buy a digital camera. For good video, buy a mini-dv camcorder.
