Hello guys,

i am going to buy a Kymco Venox, and i have 3 options

1. Buy it new

2. Buy it used from a dealer - 20.000km (previous owner was an individual)

3. Buy it used from a rent a bike shop - 2.500 km

Now i am thinking of buying from the Rent a bike shop - however will this be a wise step? Or because of the tourists that rent the bike it might not be a good decision?

I was just passing outside the shop, saw the bike, asked if he is selling it and said yes.

Thanks

  1. I would never buy a rental bike or car.

  2. i'd buy the rental, the day yo buy new, it's worth the same money as the rental is, because it's instantly used.  let someone else eat the greater part of the depreciation

  3. tourists in most cases equals dodgy riders, & result in greater damage to a vehicle than through normal usage.

    REMEMBER the old adage-

Whats the fastest &/or best stunt car on the road?

    A rental.

  4. From my  experience I buy the new one as it belong to me forever and I found less problems therefore if you can afford the new one Buy it

  5. Another option is your local newspaper classifieds. http://www.craigslist.com is a good place to look too, it's like online classifieds.

  6. If you have to depend on the bike for your basic transportation, I would not get a rental. If just for some fun, it might be OK. Check it over well before you buy.

  7. Buy new if you can afford it. Warranty is really important and you know the bike isn't an abused one. I have seen rental bikes ridden and they are trashed out as soon as they get out of sight of the rental company. Used from a dealer is better but again, you don't know how well it was taken care of. "Just ridden by a little lady" (that took it to the drag strip every weekend). LOL

Buy new and enjoy your ride.
