  1. If you are in the USA, pet rabbits are not vaccinated here. I would not ever buy a rabbit from a pet store, though, for a number of reasons.

Pet store rabbits often are incubating illness, even if they seem healthy in the store. Also, you can't see where they were bred or learn about their history, many of the 'mills' that pump out pet store rabbits inbreed and breed without regard to good health and temperament. Inbred pet store bunnies often have temperament or health problems as they get older. My college roommate brought home a pet store bunny against my recommendation- the little guy racked up $500 in vet bills the first 2 weeks treating an upper respiratory infection he picked up at the (supposedly) clean pet store that had 'healthy' animals. He was also the most aggressive, standoffish rabbit I have ever encountered despite being treated with love and care, and with rabbits, that's saying something! This is unfortunately very common with pet store bunnies. I would avoid pet store rabbits like the plague, I have yet to meet one that was healthy and friendly.

I would adopt from a local shelter or rescue, for preference. The rabbit will come already spayed or neutered and vet checked. If you let us know approximately where you live, I'm sure someone can point you in the direction of a rescue or shelter nearby with rabbits needing homes.

If you are set on a young baby, get it from a reputable breeder who has their kits vet checked before sending them to new homes and who keeps small numbers so they can be provided with proper care and socialization. Rabbits should not be sold until 8-10 weeks at the earliest. Breeders who care about their babies don't wean until close to 8 weeks and keep them for a few weeks following weaning to make sure they made the adjustment to life without mom with no issues and are happy and healthy. If someone's selling younger, you don't want to buy from them.

  2. Pet shop bunnies NEVER have boosters of are neutered. If you want this go to a rescue center. As long as the rabbits are kept nice & look healthy then buy one(after having a proper look at it)

Rabbits don't generally have "Rabies" why did you ask that??

So i would say buy one if their healthy or better still go to a Rescue center like the R.S.P.C.A or whatever your local one is called.

    Hope this helps.x*x

  3. Domestic rabbits rarely have rabies, so that is not really something to worry about.  No vaccines of any kind exist for rabbits in the US anyway. However, pet shop rabbits often are taken from their mothers too soon and therefore can have health problems and can die suddenly, etc. You should see if any animal shelters in your area have rabbits, or look online for a reputable breeder in your area. Also visit http://www.rabbit.org for great info and help for keeping pet rabbits.

  4. Shots are not important buy spaying and neutering are. The sugery can cost a lot of money, thats why its cheaper to adopt. Plus when you adopt you are saving a life, and they often come already fixed.

Before getting a rabbit please make sure you are willing to make a 10+ year commitment. Rabbits need vet care and can cost quite a bit in the long run.
