  1. That is a lot of miles on the str-4.  But the Evo motor is made for racing, not for being reliable.  I foresee that motor needing a rebuild after about 5 to 10 years of use.  Where as the str-4 is more reliable.   I recommend getting a supra motor and puting it in a 4-door lexus (gs-300's are nice).  the cars can be bought cheap and so can the motor and install.

Let me know if you need help getting it together

  2. The Evo is more expensive than the sti, so you might want to take a second look.  Especially since the new sti body style is out the old 4 doors have droped in price.  Its hard to find a good turbo for under 20.  The evo is a great car and will go forever if well maintained, watch out for people who have modded their car as who knows what kind of experience they have.  srt is garbage, I wouldn't waste my time but thats just my 2 cents.  I'd also check out the acura rsx.  Not as fast as the evo but if your looking for a solid 20k car that is unbelievably reliable, small, and sporty and you can always add your own turbo which is more fun anyway.  In any case make sure you take whatever car you are considering to a trusted mechanic and have him (or her) check it out before you buy.  Good luck.

  3. will from my point of view i would go with the EVO 8 caz in the long run if you decide to sell it you will make more money back in thats case and the evo 8 has way more hp and handle everything about the evo is way better teh the srt-4 ten time bro

but sti and evo are almost the same but the parts and repair for the sti are harder to get.

  4. Nowadays, 90,000 miles is comparatively little on a car motor; especially with modern cars exceeding 200,000 miles. SRT-4s, as far as I've heard, are good vehicles. Essentially just a Neon with a modified drivetrain and sportier suspension.

However, I've always maintained that one should be wary of Chryslers. They may make an excellent drivetrain, but it's all the little knick-knacks that fail. Buttons, switches, k***s, annoying things such as those.

Can't go wrong with Japanese. There's a saying; "You get what you pay for."

So, my money's on the Evo.

  5. Mitsubishi has poor reliability in general, Subaru has excellent reliability, and Dodge doesnt need to be because its so cheap (but its decent, much better than Mitsubishi).

Even when the engine does "go" its only going to be like $2500 if its a complete failure, which is unlikely. More likely is a turbo or head going, and they are cheap, and be replaced yourself for about $300 and $600 respectively. The srt-4 is a h**l of alot faster than either of the other cars too ( 0-60 about a second faster), and gets better mileage.

  6. I have a friend that has the srt-4 , And he wishes he had bought the evo,,, one reason is his is making 502 hp, But all he does is spin when he nails it,,,However the AWD evo would be alot better ,, But his runs realy strong on the highway, But the evo would do alot better for the red light racer,, Just my 2 cents..  By the way the evo and srt-4  have the same engine,,,
