i have to have 700.00 worth of work done on my car. i'm trying to get an apartment also since i'm living with someone. my money is moving slow and i'm ready for my own place but i need to get my car worked on since i need it for work. i was told by someone it's better to get another car because it's 6 years old, it has 80,000 miles, the winter is coming soon and at this point, i may have more problems. then someone else say it's cheaper to just have it fixed instead of having a monthly payment and right now i don't think i can afford it since i really need me a place to stay. what should i do.

  1. I would fix the car considering your current financial situation. Getting off a loan can get expensive and hurt your credit if you ever default on your payments.

  2. 80,000 miles isn't a lot for a car now in today's age.  A mechanic told me about my old car at about 80,000 miles too (a shot fuel pump for $400 repair).  I got it fixed and wound up not having to put any more money into it until the transmission went... at 220,000.  So, if it's a decent car and you take care of it, I would absolutely get it fixed for $700.

  3. It maybe 6 years old, but it only has 80,000 miles on it.....I realize $700.00 is alot of money for auto repairs but now isn't he best time to buy a new car. Financially you don't need a extra monthly payment, depending on the car you get, your insurance maybe higher too.

Shop around for the best prices on the auto repairs. There are alot of good do it yourselfers out there, that can do good quality work at a fraction of the price...shop around.

Keep the car, it has alot of life left in it and with gas prices the way they are, knowbody needs additional debt that a monthly car payment will bring.

  4. age doesnt really matter and the mileage isnt that high if the car was well taken care of
