Question:

Should i buy from a tortoise from a petshop?

i went today, the tortoise were in good condition but i was concerned as the starter pack they were offering consisted of a glass tank and a heat mat. do you think i should buy of people with so little understanding?

  1. If you know what a good tank set up consists of, then design your own.   If you don't get your turtle at a pet shop, where are you going to get it.   Possibly a reptile expo


  2. Are you concerned about the people selling the tortoise, or the tortoise itself?

  3. if they are pros then buy it

  4. Pet shops are about 1/4th about the animals, and 3/4ths about the 'stuff'. I try to ignore the 'stuff' part.

    If the tortoise is healthy, one you want and can care for, and decently priced- go for it. Don't let a store full of salespeople keep you from a good pet.

  5. Think about adopting.  Contact a local turtle/tortoise rescue.  You would be giving one a much needed home.  No need to pay for one!  Good luck to you and your future tortoise!  :)
