Should i buy mandriva linux?

Question

is there any reason i should pay for mandriva 2008.1?

if i do pay for it what will i get that i dont get from mandriva 2008 free edition?

could anybody explain about piad updates and PLF paid updates?

what should i expect from a paid 4 version?

there is no reason in the world to pay for linux and just for the record all the extra goodies that are in the paid version are in linux mint for free preinstalled that is the closed source stuff there is never a reason to buy linux

The free version comes with open source/free software only.

The pay version comes with close source software like codecs and dvd play back. It also comes with paid support.  This doesn't mean you can't do this with the free version. Some of this software is available but may not be legal for you to use in your country without buying it.

If you are not set on Mandriva I would suggest giving Ubuntu a try there is allot of support available for free on this distro. You could also have a look at this site which lists almost all Linux distros.
