  1. Yes. If you can afford to keep them for a few years, eventually they will go up. They may well go below 275p but not by very much.

  3. I'm no expert - so I continued with my Google search and I'd suggest anyone with Halifax shares does the same. For example on www.thisismoney.co.uk/midas-hbos you'll find the advice to track the price of Halifax shares and leave the decision as late as possible. Their advice is "If it is then below the rights price, taking up the rights makes no sense. If it is hovering above the rights price, tail-swallowing may be the best option for those prepared to take a long-term view."
