Should i change her car seat now? ?

my daughter is 2 year old and just reached 30 pounds my car seat says for weight 20-40 pounds. should i start looking for booster seat for he still with a 5 point harness or should i just keep her in this until she is 40 pounds? and her head almost reaches above the top of her car seat but her feet don't hang over the side yet. or can she still say it this car seat after she reaches 40 pounds? please a little advise please.. no i am not going to take her out of this car seat for a while i just want to know now. of what i should do. i am a first time mom

  1. Wait until she reaches the 40 lbs to get the booster.  The longer you can keep her in the carseat, the safer she will be.  :)


  2. I would keep her in the seat you have for now - it'll be awhile before she hits 40 lbs!

    The seats with the 5 point harness are nice, but the convenience factor of using your own seat belt with a booster is even nicer. I would never do that with a two year old, though. They are not old enough to understand the importance of keeping the seat belt fastened tight and my try to slide out of it. A 3 year old is less likely to do that.

  3. I would keep your baby in the seat she has now. There are some booster seats that you can put your toddler in at 30 pounds, but regular car seats (like what you already have) seem safer to me. Wait until your child completly outgrows the straps and what not in the car seat she is in now. Once you do transition her to a booster, remember the rule is they stay in a booster until they are 4' 9".
