  1. the piercing is most likely damaging your teeth. most dentists prefer that you do not get that piercing simply because a lot of people tap it against their teeth, or rub it when they chew, sleep the wrong way with it, stuff like that and it erodes the teeth and enamel away. i would change it to maybe a plastic one and see how that works out for you.

  2. If you were just pierced a day or two ago, your teeth may be hurting just because of all the swelling going on in your mouth. When your tongue is swollen, it can swell the floor of your mouth and generally aggravate everything in the area, including making your teeth ache.

If you're talking about the jewelry is knocking against your teeth or that you can't comfortably play with the jewelry, it hurts because you're not supposed to allow the ring to hit your teeth and should NEVER play with the jewelry. You will need to practice speaking and eating without making contact with your teeth. It may be difficult now due to the extra length of your barbell, but make your best effort.

Just having the metal in your mouth should not irritate your teeth unless you have a vast amount of dental work or some strange sensitivity that I'm unaware of. If your piercing is deeply uncomfortable, itchy more than a healing wound should be, or doing anything strange that might indicate an allergic reaction to the metal (some people do react to surgical steel) see your piercer.

If you've only been pierced a few days, keep contact with your teeth to a minimum and wait to see if the condition improves. If you've been pierced more than a week, see your piercer about the situation.
