  1. its not tradition but some people do it

like 30-60 mins before its over change  into something simple with a pretty neckline how about something in this style

  2. It is up to you.  I changed out of my wedding dress toward the end of my reception.  I would say if you were going to start your honeymoon close by the reception area you could stay in your wedding dress.  If you have to travel very far or planning to fly or take a train you should change into something else; (we left for Florida right after the wedding/reception), I changed into something much more comfortable.  If it were me, I would wear a dressy skirt and blazer or jacket.  Since it is in November in the Chicago.  A nice coat would be fine.

  3. It used to be a custom for the bride and groom to change into travelling clothes and leave early.  In recent years and by recent I actually mean about the last 25 years, anything goes.  Usually the bride and groom choose to stay at the reception all or most of the night, so they can get maximum enjoyment for all that money they put out.  Towards the end of the evening, the older folk leave and the younger ones can party.  If the bride is tired of wearing her wedding dress, she sometimes changes, but most of the time, she chooses to get maximum wear out of the expensive dress she bought and can only wear once.

So...the answer....what ever you want!    Re: coat.  Again, up to you.  You will probably choose not to wear it at the important times. eg. pics, leaving the church...at the reception, receiving line etc, so it will probably only be functional.  Therefore, if you want to buy a new one fine, but you probably won't show anyone anyway.

Of course, if you have the money and want to be cutting edge, you could start a new trend and get a wedding dress and coat to go with....
