I heard that ballet helps you do alot of other dances (like lyrical).

Im 13 is it too late to try ballet or even dance at all.

  1. Go for it!!!!

  2. You're never too old to learn dance.    I'd probably start with a regular ballet class for at least one year to get and understand the basics and learn to be a little bit more precise and have more ways you can feel and respond to the music. Then if you want switch to (or add on would be better)a lyrical class.

       Just remember.....you're never too old.

  3. I recommend you try Ballet First as lyrical will involve jazz and ballet combined. Ballet is also a good frame work to branch to other styles like jazz, lyrical, tap dancing and hip-hop.

  4. both.

  5. Do both! I love lyrical! It is my favorite but I also take ballet as well because it is the fondation to every other style of dance.

So I think you should take both, cause you would love it! And it wouldn't hurt taking both classes, it can only make you better!

  6. No it's not too late. It's never too late.I started at your age and I'm being moved up to a preproffesional level after a year and a half!

But definitely do ballet. It is the core of all dance. It will help you A TON with lyrical if you want to try it after you've got some ballet under your belt. If you can take both, I say go for it. You'll have that core training in addition to the strength and lines you'll get from lyrical classes. You'll find it easier to advance in your lyrical class if you've had some ballet though.

  7. its never too late first of all!

ballet is the foundation of all forms of dancing, hip hop, jazz, tap, pointe, modern, lyrical...the list goes on... you should take both thts my best advice for you but if u cant take both, do ballet for a couple years and the you can try lyrical cuz youll have built ur foundation

  8. It is never too late to learn to dance :)

  9. It's never too late to start doing ballet!  I started when i was 10 and now am a professional dancer and teacher.  I suggest ballet becuase if you can do ballet you can pretty much do any other form of dancing.  Most of Lycrial's movements are ballet/ballet based.

One of the cool things about ballet dancers is that they can blend in really well into jazz, tap, modern and lyrical really well.  But it never works well vise-versa.  you can all way pick a jazz dancer out of a ballet class.

My suggestion is to start with ballet and then branch out and explore other forms.

  10. well i personally like lyrical better but you rlly should have ballet experience for lyrical....ballet does help you with other dances.... it is like the base dance...so try ballet its not too late..also you might wanna try lyrical as well

    hope i helped

  11. its never to late!!...it will most likely be easier for you since your muscles will already be strong...most people start at 7 and are pretty weak so they have to work their body mass to become stronger but it will be easier for you!!

i do both....ballet helps with lyrical alot of the same moves like the glisse tour gete and grand tour jete...simple things like that but if you can you could try doing both!!

im 15 and started at 12
