Should i do computer networking?

my bro is encouraging me to go to school for a computer help desk job and even computer networking,im good with computers and psychology is too long to go to school, can u pleese give me some info about schooling for help desk jobs or computer networking? how is it for you do u like the jobs? thanks

  1. A help desk job is thankless.  for the most parts you're dealing with angry people who want an instant answer for their problem, which might not even be real.  You can't tell them that they're ignorant, even if it's true.  In most companies you're required to answer a certain minimum number of calls per hour.  And at level 1 you have minimal training, so the job can be frustrating.  (A good supervisor can make all the difference.)


  2. Networking is a serious job, requires a lot of skill and knowledge.  It's completely different than a help desk job where you'll be helping people with general PC issues.

    Network Engineers design and build networks.  Network Administrators do that and maintain the network.

    There's many different avenues.  Do some research.
