i'm not fit at all!!

but i want to do cross country to get fit and to be able to run

right now i can barely run a mile and basically i'm scared of getting laughed at since i really suck...the first timed trials is tomorrow, the second in two weeks and the third in 4 weeks... and there are summer practices 3 times a week...but we only have to go to practice after the 3rd timed trials....idk if i should wait until i practice more so i can have more confidence and go or go to all the practices even if i make a fool of myself...that way i get help from the coach but at a cost of embarassment....i was also thinking of doing it next year and conditioning meanwhile but i know i wont i'll just procrastinate...what do i do??

  1. yes do cross country!!! this is my first year of cross country too, but im fit because i can run more than a mile. srry, :(

take a shot at it, if you think its to much then quit. but if you are one of the slower ones then the coaches will cut you some more slack. and trust me, no one will laugh at you or make fun of you if you are slow. if anything they will feel sorry for you cuz there is this one girl on our team... :(

    not me...

well good luck and hope you enjoy it!!! :)

  2. yes you should dont be nervous who cares what they think youll make friends and be jsut as good as them just do it ha quite asking so many questions

  3. you should, it is soo fun! There are always some people who dont do summer training and cant run for 10 minutes at the start of the year. Go to the practices now when more people are likely to be out of shape so you will be head when school starts. Do it now for the best results, delaying running and practicing with the team will just delay your success, trust me.

  4. Definitly. Get fit this summer. go to the gym. Cut back on the chocolo cake and get out there to the trails and run run run! Cross country is a great way to stay fit and once you make the team and get good at it you won't have to diet as much. TRUST me! Trust you're decioin that you're gonna be good and do it if you want to ! Don't care about what other people think~~

    YOU GO GiRL L0l

  5. You should definitely still do it! I've been running cross country for 5 years and i absolutely love it but when i started, i was in the same boat as you. I could barely run a mile but i stuck with it and now i run 10k's and love doing it. You shouldn't care what other people think of you because at one point or another, they were in the same place that you are in now. Everyone needs to start somewhere. Just take your time and stick with it and you will get better :-) Good Luck

  6. yes!

the truth in this question is that the only way yo are going to get in shape is to do cross country

hey trust me, when xc starts at our school, at least one person quits after the first couple days

tell yourself that quitting is the only REAL thing people can laugh at you about

xc is really fun and the first two weeks will be tough for someone getting used to running
