I would, but it depends on who you have for back-up catchers.

I just dropped him from a 12 team league without out blinking. I had him riding the bench the whole year anyway. You have to figure that 6-8 weeks is best case scenario plus he will have a rehab assignment when he comes back that is usually 2 weeks he most likely won't be back till late Aug.early Sep. If not the rest of the season. Don't hold onto him just because he was a high draft pick dump him and don't look back!!!!!!!!!

Who do you have as a replacement catcher?

Mauer, Soto, Martin, B. Molina, Pierzynski, Navarro are the only people really worth dropping Martinez for. Unless you have one of those guys, better keep him on the bench or on DL

Absolutely. In an 8 team league, there should definitely be more productive guys than Martinez on the free agents. Martinez has been abysmal this year, not to mention that he is going to be riding the pine for the next 6-8 weeks. If he is available, which I would doubt, see if you can grab Ryan Doumit, as he has been hitting the lights out this year when healthy, and he is in my opinion the best catcher this year.
